Speaker 1: Today we'll be having a look at the Etrailer.com channel tongue trailer coupler with a trigger latch for a 2" ball, with a 3,500 pound capacity, part number CT-3002-Z.Here's what our coupler looks like installed. Now one of the main reasons you're going to want a replacement coupler such as this one is to replace an old, or worn out, or damaged coupler. You'll notice on our old coupler that we removed, I can't even open it easily, whereas on our new one, springs open very easily and closes very easily. That will make it a lot easier for you to hook up to your tow vehicle so you can safely tow your trailer.The zinc finish on our coupler will provide many years of superior rust resistance so we don't have to worry about corrosion. This is an ideal solution for boat trailers, trailers that see excessive salt spray, or ones that are stored outdoors. The channel ton coupler's going to let you hook up your trailer to your tow vehicle and it's going to provide the connection point for your hitch ball. Again, it's designed for a 1 and 7/8 inch ball. It's going to have a capacity of 2,000 pounds and it's going to feature a trigger latch mechanism, this is going to allow for safe and easy coupling and uncoupling. To open up the socket, this mechanism down here, all you have to do is lift up on the trigger, pull up on the latch, and then you can see how it opens and closes that socket mechanism. In the open position you could place this over your hitch ball, it will go right here in the socket, and then when you're ready to secure it, you just close the latch back down to the closed position and that's going to make a nice tight secure connection to the 1 and 7/8 inch ball on the trailer. To disconnect, you simply just pull that trigger, open the latch, and it's going to release from the hitch ball. The unit's made from a steel construction, it's going to feature a nice durable zinc finish which is going to provide great protection from rust and corrosion. more

It's going to offer us a gross weight capacity of 3500 pounds with a maximum tongue weight capacity of 350 pounds. As you can see here it's a nice, easy to use, trigger latch system. When we open up the latch it opens up the mechanism and then when we close it, it drops the mechanism to secure the hitch ball. This Old Trailer: Installation of a Trailer Coupler- Video
Today on This Old Trailer we are going to install a brand new coupler using part number 2836AT from Master Lock. This is going to be a three inch wide coupler on it and in between here is going to be three inches wide and it is going to use a two inch ball. The first steps involved are to remove the old coupler. It has been on there for awhile. It is rusted so take a couple of wrenches to it and maybe we will get lucky and we will actually break the bolts and get it to come loose that way. This little stand right here got bent back, probably pinching the coupler, so we are going to take that one apart too. Obviously this is rusted in place so we are going to have to persuade it off. 00:59 more
